AI-Powered Asset Analytics to Strengthen Arva’s Grid Operations

Arkion is excited to announce a new collaboration with Arva AS, as part of the tender won by Airpelago. Arva is one of the three major power providers in northern Norway and responsible for maintaining the power grid across Troms and Nordland. As part of a multi-year agreement, Arva has selected Airpelago’s autonomous drone inspection services, combined with data analysis from Arkion, to carry out comprehensive inspections of their entire grid – including detailed inspections, LiDAR, and annual visual inspections.
Arkion’s Asset Analytics platform delivers AI-powered analysis for both detailed inspections (Toppkontroll) and regular line inspections (Linjeinspeksjon), enabling Arva to meet regulatory requirements while gaining the detailed condition insights needed to plan maintenance ahead of time.
In addition, Arkion provides LiDAR data analysis to support vegetation management, using data captured by Airpelago. Through this analysis, Arva gains precise insights into ground clearance, vegetation infringements, and can visualize LiDAR data to better plan and prioritize field work across their network.
Together, Airpelago and Arkion are helping Arva scale a modern inspection process that combines autonomous data capture with AI-powered analytics, supporting a reliable, safe, and efficient power grid for northern Norway.
"After many years of manually handling and analyzing condition data, we hope that our collaboration with Airpelago and Arkion will help significantly automate these processes, enabling our maintenance engineers to focus more of their time on maintaining the power grid. Furthermore, we believe that with automated processes and analysis, we will be able to detect critical faults in the grid more quickly, thereby reducing the likelihood of failures and outages. With this, we believe Arkion can help bring Arva into the future.
