Arkion Newsletter in April 2025: New contracts, new products, and new content

New Contract with PiteEnergi
We’re happy to announce another new partner with the PiteEnergi in Northern Sweden. Arkion will be helping PiteEnergi with their Asset Analytics, enabling easier inspections and planning across their remote network. Finalist in the Energy tech challengers
Early this April our CEO, Louise Gauffin, presented our work at the Energy Tech Summit in Bilbao, Spain. She took the stage to show how Arkion is applying AI at an industrial scale to address one of the most pressing challenges of our time – strengthening the reliability and resilience of the power grid.

Delegation alongside the Swedish Minister of Energy to Italy
Arkion participated in a delegation to Rome alongside other climate transition players from Sweden. During the delegation, hosted by the Swedish Chamber of Commerce and Swedish Embassy in Rome, we had the opportunity to meet Italian grid owners and discuss the potential of our solutions to help drive the energy transition in Italy and Europe at large.

Product Updates

Image anonymization API
From the start, Arkion has helped Transmission and Distribution grid operators to manage their data securely and ensure personal identifiable information is removed to ensure GDPR compliance.

We’re now very happy to announce that we are extending this opportunity to access our powerful Image Anonymization AI models through an API, read more here: https://www.arkion.co/image-anonymization-api

Asset inventory solution
A key part of asset management is asset data. However having accurate and up-to-date information is easier said than done. We’re happy to share our progress and that we are now able to provide detailed reports to update asset management systems with correct asset data. Product features include:

  • Finding specific asset types such as capacitor banks, transformers and pole equipment
  • Correct mislabelled or misplaced asset geo-data
  • Find missing poles

Understanding the risks, and opportunities, of AI solutions for power grids
A common, and understandable, hesitation for power grid operators around AI is the potential risks a project can pose to normal operations. The power grid needs to be taken care of and made sure that it’s not disrupted, lest people loose access to energy. However, the same is true for our power grid if we don’t employ better solutions to make the most of our current infrastructure.

That is why we have written an article highlighting two frameworks and approaches to how to identify and mitigate risks while maximizing the potential value of AI solutions. Read the full article in our

VB Elnät – From Pilot to Full Rollout in 6 Months
Västerbergslagens Elnät, part of Vattenfall Group, Ludvika and Fagersta municipality, rapidly scaled their use of AI-powered inspections. After a focused proof of concept, they moved to a full rollout of their distribution grid in just six months—demonstrating what’s possible with committed leadership and the right tools.
Arkion Wins Contract with Elvia, Norway’s Largest Distribution Grid Operator
Arkion, a leading provider of AI-powered asset analytics, proudly announces its selection as the sole provider of detailed condition assessments for Elvia. Elvia, one of Norway's largest electricity networks, has chosen Arkion’s platform to enhance inspection and maintenance processes, ultimately driving increased grid reliability and optimization.
Two frameworks for understanding the risks and opportunities of AI-driven power line inspections
The power grid is critical infrastructure, yet asset failures cost $150 billion annually due to outdated inspection methods like manual checks and helicopters, which fail to detect up to 90% of defects. AI-driven drone inspections offer a faster, more cost-effective, and precise alternative, but adoption remains slow due to concerns about scalability and integration. The OPEN (Outline, Partner, Experiment, Navigate) and CARE (Catastrophize, Assess, Regulate, Exit) frameworks help grid operators implement AI effectively by aligning technology with business needs, fostering collaboration, testing high-impact use cases, and creating structured roadmaps for scaling.
